Sanmvedna

Deserted
ruins along the dividing line begin to breathe under the spell
of a starry night. As the shadows emerge out of the stone
carvings they feel painful grief in the air. They reciprocate
through melodious expressions and create space for joy and
happiness even when faced by gloom and despair.

Sanmvedna reflects the thoughts of Sufis and Saints through
sensitive poetry of Ramanath Awasthy and Bashir Badra. Through
a mix of Geet and Gazal, Sanmvedna symbolizes the mix of two
languages, two cultures, two societies, two nations which
though different are still in unison at heart. The vision
of the composition slowly expands to move beyond the Indian
Subcontinent. It seeks to absolve all discord and hatred threatening
to divide and annihilate entire humanity. As the shadows fall
back in their stone carvings they leave a message of harmony
flowing towards every heart.

Artistic Features

In Sanmvedna Neelam Verma, disciple of Guru Pt. Birju Maharaj
has utilized the inherent rhythmic and expressional beauty
of Kathak to convey a message of universal happiness. The
composition is a testimony of her creative energy and meticulous
dedication. She has managed to dispense off with the routine
mechanical display of tukras and toras and yet preserve the
traditional frame of this Classical Dance form. The presentation
uses the remarkable work of Ramanath Awasthy and Bashir Badra
who write simple but emotionally charged poetry. Their verses
are aesthetically interwoven by Neelam to frame a well consolidated
story line.

Imaginative incorporation of multimedia visual projection
on the screen at strategic points is a unique concept which
enhances the appeal of the composition and makes it an interesting
viewing.. Melodious vocal is rendered by Himanshu Joshi ,
Mita Pundit and Suparna Acharya. Music by Pt. A. Vashishta
is sweet and soulful.
