Ayodhya-The land of no war.

Saket was a primordial town where Ayodhya exists now.

Saket is the master piece composition by the renowned Hindi poet Sri Maithili Saran Gupt. Through this excellent work the poet has made the historical epic Ramayana relevant to the entire world today. Ram, the beloved prince of Ayodhya is adorned as the Supreme Force inspiring humanity to attain Divinity.

The events of the story are exposed in a novel way highlighting Ayodhya as the center stage of poetic structure and expression. The composition brings forth the feelings and thoughts of the lesser known female characters of the story during and after the exile of Ram.

The most glorious and original aspect of the composition is the projection of Laxmans wife Urmila as the Naika of the Epic. The expression and dramatization of her emotions and vision show the dignity with which she withstood the pathos and pain of separation from her husband. The subtle and artistic of her perceptions adds a new dimension to the theme for which Saket can be called –A Tribute to Womanhood.

(This aspect of the Epic is presented by Dr Neelam as ‘Soumitra-Priya’; an independent composition of half hour duration.)
