Uttishtha Bharata

Multimedia dance drama based on Srimad Bhagavad Gita

In the battlefield of Kurukshetra, just before the commencement
of the battle of Mahabharata, Arjuna was standing between
the two armies. In spite of being the greatest archer and
the ace warrior of his time Arjuna was so overwhelmed with
grief that he lost his self-confidence. In a spell of pathos
he discarded his armaments and refused to fight.

At this crucial moment he sought guidance from Sri Bhagavan
who was his charioteer and friend. Like a skillful psychotherapist
Sri Bhagavan initiated a conversation with Arjuna to dispel
his dilemma and revive his morale. Although the word "Bharata"
is used as synonym for Arjuna ( A descendent from "Bharata
Dynasty") it has an universal application.

"Bharata" is a metaphor for the intelligent and dynamic youth
of all times; a medium through which Shri Bhagawan has conveyed
His message of universal love and compassion.

The Dance Drama "Uttistha Bharata" captures images created
in Arjuna's mind while he listened to Sri Krishna. The Divine
Conversation is portrayed in an aesthetic and enchanting form.
The composition reaches its dramatic climax in the exposition
of Kallroop - The Time Man. It also indicates the critical
situations during the battle of Mahabharata when Sri Bhagavan
carved his Leela - His Mystical Play; to uphold the honour
and victory of His Virtuous devotee.

The Dance Drama follows Kathak style in Sutradhar tradition.
The troupe is set in a contemporary Vedic Ashram. The participants
sing, dance, enact and contemplate upon the Divine words of
the Gita and thereby explore its magnificent secrets. The
scope of the presentation is enhanced through the strategic
inclusion of multimedia projections which electrify its highlight
points and make the stage presentation an absorbing experience.

The innovative skill of the composer lies in the fine balance
which is maintained in the various artistic inputs combined
together for the final creation. There is a flowing synchronization
between poetry, music, singing, narration, choreography, dramatic
swings, special effects, illustrations & animations. all the
dimensions converge to carry the viewer into the charismatic
realm of Bliss & Solace; as promised by Sri Bhagavan.
